You can find answers to the most frequently asked questions below:
What blog systems does Blogo support?
Blogo currently supports the following systems:
We are working on support for Vox, Plone, Dotclear, Livejournal and others. Email us your requests.
Blogo doesn’t recognize my blog, or complains that it can’t find my RSS feed. What should I do?
First, check your blog’s address in Safari exactly as it was entered into Blogo. Then, check your blog’s homepage HTML (by right-clicking and selecting “View Source”). There should be a section similar to the text below at the top of the page:
<link rel="EditURI" type="application/rsd+xml" title="RSD" href="http://yourblog.com/xmlrpc.php?rsd" /> <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 2.0" href="http://yourblog.com/?feed=rss2" /> <link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Atom 1.0" href="http://yourblog.com/?feed=atom" />If you do not find this code, check with your blog’s host or email us for more assistance.
Does Blogo work behind a firewall?
Blogo should respect your network settings. Make sure you’ve configured the proxy settings in the Network System Preferences.
My blog is private or uses a secure protocol, and Blogo can’t figure out what type of blog it is.
Blogo does not currently support private blogs. We are working on support for this in a future release.
Why is Blogo mixing up tags and categories?
Categories are prefixed with a hash (#) by Blogo to distinguish them from tags.
Why can’t I edit the HTML by hand?
We are working on a pure HTML editor and will include it in a future release.
Why can’t I save drafts to my computer?
We are working on a local database for posts, which will allow users to save drafts locally. In the meantime, you can easily export to text, Web Archive, or HTML.
I’d like to store my images via FTP, Flickr, or (insert service here).
We are working on expanding support for new services. Email us your requests.
I've downloaded the 1.1 update, and I'm getting an error about my TypePad blog’s categories when posting. What's going on?
Why am I getting “Error 500” when I try to post or upload an image?
Most likely, something on your blog is not configured properly for remote editors. You should check the permissions for your uploads folder, or check your server’s error logs if you host your own blog. If you have a TypePad, Blogger or other hosted account, contact their support staff for more assistance.
You also might try removing any plugins installed, as they can cause conflicts with remote editors.
Why can’t I post videos or other embedded content to my WordPress.com weblog?
For security reasons WordPress.com removes these tags from posts. You can read more details at their FAQ on the subject.
WordPress will not let me upload images, complaining “xml not well formed”. Why can I upload images with other blog clients but not Blogo?
Blogo stores metadata in the User Comments field of image’s EXIF data. There is a bug in WordPress 2.5 which affects images with EXIF data sent via XMLRPC. This has been fixed in the latest release, so upgrading should be all that you need.
If this is not the issue, there might be a plugin which is outputting warnings and invalidating the XML. Try disabling your plugins and testing with a base install.
Why are international characters messed up when I post from Blogo?
Your database is probably encoded using Latin-1 or another format other than UTF-8. The XMLRPC format used by most systems requires that text be sent in UTF-8, and unless the blog system converts that text to the proper encoding for the user’s database, all international characters will be corrupted. Because some supported systems do not perform this step, Blogo only supports UTF-8.
Why does Blogo return a 500 error when downloading my RSS feed on a fresh Typo installation?
Typo currently has a bug where the “Hello World” article added at installation breaks the blog’s atom feed. Deleting this article should fix the problem.
Why do I have to “activate” my license to use Blogo?
Unfortunately, the only way we can make sure that licenses are genuine is by activating them over the internet. Each license is valid for use on up to two machines.
I bought a new computer, but Blogo complains that my license is full. How can I deactivate the old computer?
Email us and we’ll remove your old machine from the system.
I bought a new computer, and Blogo says that I already registered from a different computer. How do I transfer the license?
Please get in touch via our contact page and we’ll clear your license for activation with another computer.
Some changes were made to Blogo’s preferences which only affect 1.0 users of TypePad. Removing the preferences file (located at /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.drinkbrainjuice.Blogo.plist) will resolve the issue.
If your question was not answered by any of the above, please email us for more assistance.
